This exercise is a high-agility variation of the classic game of “tag.” In this game three athletes hold hands in a circle facing in and one of them is designated as the one who is supposed to be tagged by wearing a hat. A fourth athlete stays outside the circle and tries to tag that designated person to be tagged. The two others holding hands with the target athlete try to protect him or her from getting tagged. A good variation to change the dynamics of the required skills is to have the athletes in the circle holding hands and facing outwards.
Since the athletes in the circle will be shuffling very quickly as well as changing directions, this drill encourages speed, agility, and teamwork. The individual outside the circle will be developing, speed, agility, and endurance.
